30 Investing in the Future Internet with 1kx — pet3rpan

A podcast where artists, musicians and tech creators talk about the future. Hosted by Nick Hollins and produced by Apollo.

pet3rpan is a partner from 1kx. Investing in autonomous worlds, NFT IP, metalabels, generative consumer and DAOs.

Summoner at Hydra Ventures, a fund backing investment DAOs. Early founding member at MetaCartel from 2018, the web3 community of creators and developers focused on building blockchain applications, using crypto in interesting ways, exploring new ideas and experiments with DAOs.

I first met Peter possibly in 2018, but definitely Berlin Blockchain Week in August 2019. Originally from Sydney, Australia. Recently organised a summit in Lisbon focusing on autonomous worlds, which he notes is kind of an updated phrase for the metaverse which was the topic a few years ago, even before Facebook was Meta.

We talk about his experiences in the web3 space. About the early internet and how it works. About the cypherpunks from the 70s, 80s and 90s who pioneered these ideas about digital freedoms and rights, and cryptography.

And we talk about collective lore and canon, like a shared belief in the Star Wars universe that is held in a shared imagination.
